The Dalton Brothers ~ Emmett, Grat & Bob were driven by the desire to be famous. They thought they ought to be better known ~ like the James Gang, who were stealing the headlines and getting rich in the process. They finally hit upon the one thing no outlaw gang had been able to pull off ~ robbing two banks at once. They rode into Coffeyville, Kansas on October 5, 1892 to do just that. Lady luck however, was not riding with them and all of them were shot down in a hail of gunfire by the town marshall and towns people as they attempted to get away. Only Emmett Dalton was left alive. Ironically their misguided adventure gave the Daltons lasting fame..
